In the heart of Vientiane City a 20 ha green land area is proposed to become a new eco-tourism area, which will boost the economic growth of the capital of Laos. During the design development Archetype Group considered the city’s current landscape, taking into account the existing vegetation and topography to optimize the value of natural surroundings. The planning & design guidelines aim to re-establish the city grid to the river by extending transverse axis to provide main access and opening perspectives from President House towards Mekong river for an impressive and original design. The concept proposes 4 main functions:
- Business/ retail region to boost the economic function of the town center;
- A large green park to take advantage of the riverside landscape & to create an impressive landmark in the core of the historical zone;
- Shopping lane, boutiques hotels and cafes/restaurants to add value to tourist area;
- A high standard residential area in a peaceful and green environment, close to the town center.
