South Cam River New Urban Area

An urban planning competition for the 80 ha South Cam River Area in central downtown Hai Phong was launched by the Hai Phong People Committee. Archetype Group proposed a concept integrating historical features of the town with a modern design. The master plan includes the following designs:

• A cultural and historical center, with a conference center, a museum dedicated to the magnificent industrial past of the city and Ho Chi Minh square;
• A tourist port close to a large park;
• A modern urban design precinct, which will possibly become the Business District Center of Hai Phong;
• A large walkway along Cam river banks, with a modern design inspired by existing railway lines.
