With over 1 million paying visitors to Angkor Wat in 2007, the Royal Government has initiated the design of a Visitors Welcome Centre as a gateway to the temple. The large concession of land has been divided and allocated to six investors. Individually the investors will develop a food complex, Information Pavilion, Day and Nighttime ticketing centers, cultural show centre and an electric vehicle transport complex to and from the temple. The buildings maintain a Khmer style influence, modern and ancient, and vary between one and two storey. The complex is designed as a journey of discovery from the drop off all the way through to electric transport taking the visitors to the temple.
