History

Archetype Group started its operations in Asia by creating a subsidiary in Vietnam that received its business license in September 2002.  It began from humble beginnings as a team of eight employees (seven in Hanoi and one in Ho Chi Minh City) before expanding initially into Cambodia, where we still have an office today.  Archetype's network soon reached Thailand in 2004, India in 2005 and France in 2006.  In 2009, we opened our Laos office, as well as establishing our environmental consultancy, Archetype Environment, with our partners Berim and Altereo.

2011 saw the opening of our Indonesia, Mongolia and Qatar offices, followed by Myanmar and Kazakhstan in 2012. In 2014, we expanded to Sri Lanka.

In 2016, Archetype acquired the Asia Pacific operations of Tebodin, a Dutch company mostly specializing in industrial projects. This acquisition increased our number of employees in the Asia Pacific region to 1,000 and added two countries to our network - China and Singapore.

In early 2017, we opened an office in the Philippines.

We formed a joint-venture with VK Architects & Engineers in 2018, named VKA Healthcare, in order to deliver international expertise for healthcare projects in emerging markets.

Early 2019 marked our acquisition of the French engineering firm BECT, who now operates under the name Archetype BECT. This strengthens our technical resources in French and allows us to offer turnkey consultancy services to French and European companies wishing to develop real estate and industrial projects in Asia and other emerging markets, as well as to Asian companies with project development in Europe.

In 2020, Archetype and Groupe IDEC partnered to set up a new Company, IDEC Asia, to propose turnkey (EPC) solutions with (or without) financing to selected industrial clients. Thanks to this approach, we promote the best-suited solution for land-use planning, investing, developing, designing, and constructing buildings for our clients in Asia in the sectors of logistics, food, and pharma by combining IDEC expertise and Archetype local-based engineering know-how.
