Thierry is a French qualified lawyer with nearly 30 years of experience on foreign investment, corporate and M&A, private equity, corporate finance as well as international taxation. Based in Phnom Penh, Thierry started his career at leading firms in Paris as a commercial and corporate lawyer and was posted in South-East Asia by Gide Loyrette Nouel (www.gide.com) in 1998. Having worked in Asia for nearly 20 years he has gained extensive experience in projects and transactions, notably in the Greater Mekong region. Prior to joining DFDL in 2007, Thierry was the managing lawyer for the Hong Kong and Guangzhou offices of a French law firm (www.lpalaw.com). He was the managing partner of the Vietnam offices of DFDL (dfdl.com) for six years and relocated to Singapore to head the regional Corporate & M&A practice of the firm in 2014. During that time Thierry also worked on key project finance transactions in South-East Asia.
During his time in Europe, Thierry has also been engaged in various projects and assignments related to investment, corporate and project finance in Eastern Africa. He notably worked as Senior Counsel at East Africa Gate, an investment advisory firm headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (www.eastafricagate.com). Thierry acted as independent general counsel for African Bamboo, a company based in Ethiopia and in the Netherlands which produces world class, sustainable, and socially responsible innovative tropical bamboo products for the materials sector. African Bamboo operates vertically integrated forestry, manufacturing, distribution, and research and development operations.
Thierry joined back DFDL in 2022 as Senior Partner and heads the legal practice of the Cambodia office of the firm, assisting clients on a various commercial, corporate, real estate and tax matters.
Thierry obtained a Master’s degree in International Business and Administration at the Paris Dauphine University and a Master’s in Business Law at the Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. He is a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and holds a Professional Lawyer’s Certificate issued by the Paris Bar Training School.
