archetype industry has delivered the design of Copan’s new manufacturing facility in Bac Ninh, Vietnam. The 10,500 sqm project was built to meet the compliance and quality standards required for medical device and diagnostics production.
About Copan Group
Copan Group, headquartered in Italy, is a global leader in sample collection and laboratory automation. Copan is known worldwide for making swabs, the collection devices many people remember using during the Covid pandemic.
The products manufactured at the Vietnam facility are devices recommended by the WHO that enhance laboratory diagnostics. Copan will implement several technologies at the site, including molding, flocking, filling, and packaging. A facility of this caliber demands equal precision in its design and execution, and Copan chose Vietnam as its second, and by far its largest, manufacturing hub in the Asian region.
Our Role and Approach
archetype industry led a broad scope on this project, including master planning, architecture, and engineering, working alongside Groupe IDEC International from early feasibility through to project completion. The integrated delivery model kept design, engineering, and compliance requirements aligned throughout the project, a key factor in bringing a facility of this complexity from concept to operation.
This alignment helped the teams achieve both the ISO 8 cleanroom requirements and the ISO 13485 requirements for medical device production. Integrating MEP systems with cleanroom and international production requirements was one of the key strengths delivered to Copan.
