Kicking off our series is Iliana Martseniak, Project Manager at Archetype Thailand.
With extensive experience in leading design development and overseeing construction management, Iliana plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality projects. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, she has earned recognition for her resilience, strategic leadership and ability to navigate complex challenges with confidence.
We spoke with Iliana about her journey, the challenges she has faced, and her advice for aspiring women in the industry.
- How do you feel being a woman working at Archetype Group?
“Being a Project Manager at Archetype Group has been both challenging and rewarding. Leading design development and supervising construction demand strong decision-making and leadership skills. While the industry is historically male-dominated, I’ve always felt that my expertise and contributions are valued. The support of the Archetype team has played a huge role in my journey, and I take pride in showing that competence knows no gender.”
- Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?
“My role involves managing design projects, collaborating with international partners, and overseeing construction. From problem-solving to client negotiations, every day presents new challenges. In this field, resilience and confidence are essential, and I believe that women bring valuable perspectives to project management—helping to foster collaboration and efficiency.”
- What advice would you give to other women considering a career at Archetype Group?
“Believe in your abilities and take on challenges with confidence. Developing strong communication and leadership skills is key. Be assertive, prove your expertise through consistent performance, and never hesitate to step into leadership roles. There are many opportunities for women in this industry, and by staying adaptable and proactive, you can thrive and make a lasting impact.”

- What challenges, if any, have you faced as a woman in the construction industry, and how have you overcome them?
Being a woman at Archetype Group has been a rewarding experience. Though construction is often seen as male-dominated, I have always felt valued and supported. Working with diverse colleagues, learning from different perspectives, and contributing to team growth makes me proud to be part of this industry.
- How does Archetype’s inclusive approach help women advance in their careers?
What I appreciate most is that Archetype focuses on skills, dedication, and teamwork rather than gender. It’s inspiring to see more women stepping into this field, and I’m grateful to be part of a company that encourages growth and inclusivity.

Working in an environment where most of the team is male could have been overwhelming, but I’m grateful that my colleagues have always treated me with fairness and professionalism

This is definitely a man’s world—but little by little, I’ve seen more women entering the industry, in every role and discipline. It’s tough, but not impossible. And it’s incredibly fulfilling to watch stereotypes disappear.
