Through our Women at Archetype: Breaking Barriers series, we want to recognize and celebrate some incredible women leading the way in our company: architects, engineers, project managers, recruiters or marketers, business developers … They are part of a much larger community of talented women at Archetype Group across our 27 offices who inspire change, break barriers, and redefine what’s possible in construction.

Kicking off our series is Iliana Martseniak, Project Manager at Archetype Thailand.

With extensive experience in leading design development and overseeing construction management, Iliana plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality projects. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, she has earned recognition for her resilience, strategic leadership and ability to navigate complex challenges with confidence.

We spoke with Iliana about her journey, the challenges she has faced, and her advice for aspiring women in the industry.

  • How do you feel being a woman working at Archetype Group?

“Being a Project Manager at Archetype Group has been both challenging and rewarding. Leading design development and supervising construction demand strong decision-making and leadership skills. While the industry is historically male-dominated, I’ve always felt that my expertise and contributions are valued. The support of the Archetype team has played a huge role in my journey, and I take pride in showing that competence knows no gender.”

  • Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?

“My role involves managing design projects, collaborating with international partners, and overseeing construction. From problem-solving to client negotiations, every day presents new challenges. In this field, resilience and confidence are essential, and I believe that women bring valuable perspectives to project management—helping to foster collaboration and efficiency.”

  • What advice would you give to other women considering a career at Archetype Group?

“Believe in your abilities and take on challenges with confidence. Developing strong communication and leadership skills is key. Be assertive, prove your expertise through consistent performance, and never hesitate to step into leadership roles. There are many opportunities for women in this industry, and by staying adaptable and proactive, you can thrive and make a lasting impact.”

 

Empowering growth: Linh Pham’s journey at Archetype Group!

Continuing our Women at Archetype: Breaking Barriers series, we shine light to Linh Pham, our Senior Group HR Executive at Archetype Group, who plays a key role in building strong, diverse teams and fostering a workplace where talent is valued beyond gender. In an industry where women are still underrepresented, Linh has found empowerment through a culture of collaboration and growth.

  •  What challenges, if any, have you faced as a woman in the construction industry, and how have you overcome them?

Being a woman at Archetype Group has been a rewarding experience. Though construction is often seen as male-dominated, I have always felt valued and supported. Working with diverse colleagues, learning from different perspectives, and contributing to team growth makes me proud to be part of this industry.

 

  • How does Archetype’s inclusive approach help women advance in their careers?

What I appreciate most is that Archetype focuses on skills, dedication, and teamwork rather than gender. It’s inspiring to see more women stepping into this field, and I’m grateful to be part of a company that encourages growth and inclusivity.

Designing a Future Without Limits: Phyu Latt’s path to success

Meet Phyu Latt Kyaw Myint, Senior Architectural Design Manager at Archetype Myanmar, whose career journey is a testament to ambition and perseverance.   • What advice would you give to other women considering a career at Archetype Group?

From Challenges to Opportunities: Grace Monnou’s leadership in construction.

Today, we meet Grace Monnou, a project manager at Ivory Coast, who has spent 18 years in construction proving that women are shaping the future of this industry. Often the only woman in the room, she has turned challenges into opportunities, demonstrating that success is defined by expertise, not gender.

  • Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?
Being a woman in this industry is no longer an obstacle for me—it’s a responsibility to inspire and lead. I thrive on the diversity of my role, balancing technical challenges and people leadership every day.

Thriving in a Male-Dominated Industry: Farizqi’s Path to Respect and Impact

This week, we spotlight Farizqi Anisah Nudhar, a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Engineer at Archetype Indonesia. On a male-dominated worksite, she challenges stereotypes daily, demonstrating that respect is built through dedication, not determined by gender.

Working in an environment where most of the team is male could have been overwhelming, but I’m grateful that my colleagues have always treated me with fairness and professionalism

Building Her Own Path: Mara Ochoa’s Ten-Year Rise in Construction

Introducing Mara Ochoa, Business Development at ArcheTOP—a joint venture between Archetype Group and Top Management to serve our clients in Mexico.

Starting her career at the young age of 21 in the construction industry, Mara was often the only woman on-site. Now, a decade later, she has not only broken down barriers but has become a prominent leader in driving major projects. Her accomplishments are not just about individual success—they’re about opening doors for other women to make their mark in a field that has long been dominated by men. 

  • How has Archetype Group supported your growth as a woman in your career?
This is definitely a man’s world—but little by little, I’ve seen more women entering the industry, in every role and discipline. It’s tough, but not impossible. And it’s incredibly fulfilling to watch stereotypes disappear.

This Friday, we shine a light on Anu-Ujin Ganbold, our Sales & Administration Manager at Archetype Mongolia.

When Anu-Ujin began her career, she encountered doubt—not for her capability, but because she was young and a female in a male-dominated field. Being a woman in this industry today is much easier than many might think. Thanks to the hard work and persistence of previous generations, we now work in an environment that values talent and contribution over gender.

  • Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?

Working as a woman in the construction industry has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. With the Civil Engineering background and over 20 years’ experience in the construction Industry I do enjoy and love to fly in industry.

One thing I’m particularly proud of is being able to mentor other young women entering the field. I think visibility is important—when other women see someone like them succeeding in construction, it opens the door for more to follow.”

Designing Change: Palani’s Voice in a Male-Dominated industry

Today we feature Palani Prabha T, Design Manager at Archetype India, a female architect who leads with conviction in an industry still evolving toward true inclusivity.

In a field where gender norms still shape many career path, Palani has stood firm, balancing the demands of leading teams while voicing practical concerns often overlooked in a male dominated environment.

  • How do you feel being a woman working at Archetype Group?

Working in a dynamic and fast-paced industry like construction has been both rewarding and challenging. As a woman architect, I’ve had the opportunity to grow professionally while navigating a field that remains largely male dominated.

One of the key challenges has been team leadership. Earning respect in an environment where men still hold most roles requires a mix of confidence, technical knowledge, and strong communication. Practical barriers, such as the lack of gender-sensitive facilities on site, also highlight the need for greater inclusivity in infrastructure.

Exhibiting consistent expertise has helped me break stereotypes. By staying up to date with industry trends and standing firm in my decisions, I’ve been able to build credibility and trust with colleagues across different levels.

At Archetype Group, I feel supported in my development and am encouraged by the growing recognition of diverse talent. I take pride in mentoring others and contributing to a more inclusive construction sector where women can lead, thrive, and drive change.

Shaping Spaces: Ines Ben Chaabane’s Architectural Journey

In the spotlight this Friday is Ines Ben Chaabane, an architect from our Archetype Tunisia office. With more than 15 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry, Ines has built a career grounded in technical expertise, lifelong learning, and quiet resilience. Her journey reflects strength and determination and serves as an inspiration to the next generation of women entering the field.

  • Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?

Starting 16 years ago, I faced the challenge of proving myself in a male dominated industry. Through respect, continuous learning, and initiative, I have grown confident that women do not need to justify their presence. They must assert their value through competence and collaboration.

Through years of persistence and dedication, I’ve demonstrated that women don’t need to justify their presence in construction and engineering. Instead, we can thrive by showing strong professional competence and interpersonal skills, making our contribution to the industry clear and impactful.

Building Progress: Vanessa de Melo’s Journey in Latin American Construction!

Although challenges remain in the construction industry, the increasing presence of women in leadership roles shows real progress. This evolution is empowering and essential. Introducing Vanessa de Melo, Project Manager at Archetype SPM, our venture between Archetype Group and SPM ENGENHARIA focused on Latin America.

Vanessa’s journey as a Brazilian woman in construction is one of perseverance and progress. In a field historically dominated by men, she’s proud to contribute her expertise to projects that reflect a more inclusive and diverse industry.

Driving Growth: Saramelodia Duong’s Story in Cambodia’s Construction Sector

Saramelodia Duong, PR and Business Development Manager at Archetype Cambodia, has played a leading role in some of the country’s most prominent projects. Sara brings together strategy, communication, and expertise in ways that makes her a true business partner for our clients’ successes.

What advice would you give to women who are considering a career in construction or business development?

“At Archetype, I am recognized for my skills and contributions. I’ve never felt that my gender limited my growth. Of course, being a woman or a minority can present challenges. There are moments when you must speak louder to be heard, but that should never stop you.”

Designing Progress: Korawitchaya’s 13-Year Impact in Architecture

This Friday, we feature Korawitchaya Rathpiboon, our Deputy Design Manager at Archetype Thailand. She serves as a role model for future architects and designers, navigating the complexities of the industry with resilience and professionalism.

With over 13 years of experience, Korawitchaya has led numerous high-pressure projects across sectors such as industry, high-rise and mixed-use developments. She has worked across varying project scales, collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and clients.

Building Beyond Limits: Jennifer Achkouty’s Journey in Construction

This Friday, we shine a light on Jennifer Achkouty, our Deputy Project Manager at Archetype France, with nearly a decade of experience leading large-scale industrial projects across France and Africa. 

Jennifer believes that success comes from strong organization, clear communication, and a commitment to supporting others, qualities she sees as strengths women often contribute in the construction industry.

What qualities do you think are most important for success in the construction industry?

“Being a woman in the construction industry is both challenging and rewarding. I’ve learned that true success isn’t only about technical skills, but about listening, adapting, and supporting the people around you. Every obstacle is a chance to become stronger and more thoughtful.”

Breaking Ground with Purpose: Seng Vanna’s Path to Excellence

This Friday, we feature Seng Vanna, our QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) Engineer at Archetype Cambodia, who has been part of our team for over 8 years.   

Although her academic background is in accounting, Vanna pursued a career in construction, driven by a strong interest in technical precision. Over the years, she has established herself as a trusted expert in quality assurance and control, playing a key role in maintaining high standards across complex projects.

Process & Progress: Helen Xu’s Career in Engineering Excellence

This week, we highlight Helen Xu, Process Engineer Manager at Archetype China, who brings over 24 years of expertise in process and piping design, along with more than 21 years of experience in project leadership.

Helen’s expertise spans the chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, where she has led technical teams and strategic discussions to ensure engineering decisions align with long-term client goals.

The Woman Redefining Leadership in Laos: Madam Duangmala Phommavong

This week, we feature Madam Duangmala Phommavong, our long-time business partner at Archetype Laos, a woman of the year and a dedicated leader driving education and economic growth in Laos and the Asia-Pacific region.


Madam Duangmala currently holds key positions including Secretary General of the Committee for Economic Francophonie in Laos, member of the Economic and Social Council of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and Vice-President of the Regional Commission of Economic and Scientific Experts (CREES) in the Asia-Pacific region.

Douangmala is also the recipient of the Francophone Woman of the Year Award from the Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (International Association of Francophone Mayors – AIMF), presented to her in 2021 during the 41st Congress of Francophone Mayors.

What advice would you give to other women considering a career at Archetype Group?

Quiet Strength, Big Impact: Moerika Meriam Laziawati on Leading with Emotional Intelligence

This week, we feature Moerika Meriam Laziawati, Senior HR Manager at Archetype Indonesia, a human resource professional with more than 10 years of experience across energy, mining, geothermal, plantation and engineering consultancy sectors.

Her expertise goes beyond regulatory compliance and benefits administration. For Moerika, leadership means creating a human-centered approach to every process, ensuring that systems and structures work for the people who power them.

Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?

“This is a field full of complexity, pressure, and constant movement. But behind every project, timeline, and structure, there are PEOPLE. And that’s where I find purpose. I’ve learned that – in the construction sector – quiet strength, calm under pressure, consistency, emotional intelligence are the key: it’s a kind of leadership that matters deeply. When we show up as our true selves, bringing diverse perspectives and values, we don’t just fit into the system. We shift it.

As a woman, I’ve found that our contributions often bring balance to the conversation. We listen differently, we connect the dots, and we bring a level of people awareness that can transform how teams work together.

Meet Sopha So, Architect Team Leader at Archetype Cambodia, with nearly 10 years of experience delivering projects across office, retail, residential, and manufacturing sectors.

Sopha plays a key role in turning architectural concepts into reality, working closely with engineers, consultants, and site teams to ensure every project stays true to its vision from design to completion.

Can you share more about your work as a woman in the construction industry?

“As a woman working in Archetype group has been both professionally rewarding and personally empowering. The company and teamwork have given me space to grow, contribute meaningfully, and feel respected for my skills and ideas.

I found that Archetype encourages continuous learning and creates space for all team members to lead, regardless of gender. I’ve been lucky to work with mentors who support growth regardless of gender, and I will do the same for younger professionals entering this field.”

What advice would you give to other women considering a career at Archetype Group?

“My biggest advice would be: “Don’t hesitate. If you like it, go for it. Just remember you can do it.” Archetype Group is a place where your ideas, skills, and ambition will be taken seriously, regardless of gender.”
